These classes are Honors Level only. 
  Time required will be between 5 and 7 hours a week.
  • For a student to enter the Literature and Short Stories class, he or she must have completed at least one research essay, using MLA format (specified note taking, documentation of sources, thesis statement, parenthetical references, incorporation of quotes, Works Cited....) as taught in the Expository Writing class.  The student must also be an excellent writer, with strong ability to organize paragraphs, use varied sentence structures, and vivid details, as well as mastery of grammar, punctuation and spelling rules.

  • For a student to enter the Literature and Culture class, he or she must have completed Literature and Short Stories, or at least 3 research essays (as described above), plus have completed at least two essays of literature analysis (in MLA format), as well as elements described in Literature and Short Stories.

  •  For a student to enter the American Literature class, he or she must have completed Literature and Short Stories and Literature and Culture, or at least 5 research essays (as described above), plus have completed at least 4 essays of literature analysis (in MLA format), as well as elements described in Literature and Short Stories and Literature and Culture.

  • For a student to enter the British Literature class, he or she must have completed Literature and Short Stories and Literature and Culture, and American Literature, or at least 6 research essays (as described above), plus have completed at least 5 essays of literature analysis (in MLA format), as well as elements described in the previous levels

  •  All students must have very strong writing ability, including use of varied sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.

Classes build on skills taught in the previous levels, and must be completed in sequence. The Honors English classes requires that student be enrolled and begin the first week of class to complete the year long course (no late or mid-year enrollments).

    Tuition:
    The curriculum is based on a full year program and student must be enrolled in the first semester to be able to continue in the second semester.


    First Semester
    August 16, 2010  – December 15, 2010
    16 weeks (1 week off at Thanksgiving week)
    1st Semester –   payment due July 1st:

    16 weeks (1 week off for Spring Break)
