Narrative Writing 1 & 2 - Intermediate
extended session with Teacher Kimberly
Available spots
Service Description
Students will learn personal event journaling techniques which will generate ideas for writing a short autobiographical account of an event. They will also learn how to write simple interview questions, conduct a short interview, and write a short biographical account of their interviewee. Included will also be instruction on how to write a friendly letter and address a letter. Journaling of daily reading of a book of the student’s choice will be an ongoing part of the class. Focus will continue to be on setting up a paragraph, including topic sentences, details, and closing sentences, as well as basic grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Age Suggestion: 10+ Main Course Sequence: follows Descriptive Writing; precedes Wise Writers Time Required: Approximately 3-4 hours per week. Extended Format: Extended format courses are only available during the summer and are offered with students' busy schedules in mind. Students enrolled in extended format courses will complete the same coursework, and instructors will uphold the same academic rigor--including learning through revision--as our traditional courses; however, students will have 11 weeks to complete coursework rather than the traditional 6 weeks. Students will work with their instructor to set up a personalized schedule for submitting assignments in order to meet the final deadline for the course. Because schedules are so individualized, THERE ARE NO LIVE CLASS MEETINGS IN EXTENDED FORMAT COURSES; instead, teachers will supply tailored transcripts for the student to review prior to diving into the week's assignments.
