Service Description
Students will learn first to recognize the rhetorical elements of logos, pathos and ethos through reading assigned speech(es). They will then write a persuasive essay using these elements. Concepts covered and learned through writing one essay include: punctuation and paragraphing, applying logos, pathos, and ethos in writing, choosing 3 main points (subtopics), note taking, using and documenting sources, writing a thesis statement, writing topic sentences, MLA Format, writing supporting paragraphs, transition sentences, writing an opening paragraph, using Rogerian strategy to write opposing viewpoints, writing refuting paragraphs, and writing a closing paragraph. Age Suggestion: 14+ Main Course Sequence: follows Expository Writing; often taken more than once; concurrent with Literature Analysis Time Required: Approximately 4-6 hours per week, plus 1-hour weekly online class time.

To drop your student from this course and receive a full refund, please contact us at writing@home2teach prior to receiving your class password. You will receive an email at least 48 hours in advance of class passwords being shared. Parents may request a refund, minus a $25 processing fee, during the pre-class steps of the course. No refunds will be provided after the student has received the class password. Changes to student status must be requested during the pre-class period (1 week prior to the start of class). Students may transfer courses within the same intersession OR apply their payment to a future intersession course. No refunds will be provided after the student has accessed the Canvas classroom. Families who do not respond during the pre-class steps week will have their registration automatically transferred to the next session.
